4. Sand accumulated by the wind for centuries above the tombs of the highest officials of the Old Kingdom (3rd millenium B.C.) contains graves of people of much lower social status, buried there 2 thousand years later, i.e. beginning with the time of Alexander the Great (the end of 4th century B.C.). That cemetery contains mummies and simple coffins madefrom various materials.
